Phonetic Understanding & Construction
Yes, Learn Senior Phonics & Pronunciation is a five-level literacy course created by teachers and designed for teenage learners learning English for the first time or needing to improve. This course combines a fun, fresh and flexible approach to literacy instruction with a proven classroom methodologies that motivates adults by helping them discover and strengthen the connections between sounds (phonemes) and the letter or groups of letters (graphemes) that represent those sounds. Speaking, listening, reading and writing are featured within the activities of every lesson.
Sight Words
Our students learning this course will be empowered with skills of phonological awareness, the knowledge of the English alphabet and an understanding of sound-symbol correspondences. Also, the abilities of blending and segmenting and the capability to recognise common irregular words and their spellings by sight.

By completing Yes, Learn Senior Phonics & Pronunciation, you will gain a well-rounded understanding of phonics that will not only serve as a strong foundation for your abilities in English language, but will enable you to successfully confront and complete your main course of study much more easily.
Be able to decode and encode words. Having good decoding and encoding skills will enable you to become an independent reader which will increase your vocabulary retention. Knowing how to decode words means that you will not have to memorise whole words and their spellings. If you forget a word, you will be able to look at the word and sound it out. The more this process is repeated, the larger your vocabulary will be.

The Yes, Learn Senior Phonics & Pronunciation course, is based on a World-class approach to learning phonics. It has been carefully structured to provide you with the skills and confidence you need to progress smoothly and seamlessly through the levels and from knowledge and understand through to real-life application.
Level 1 – The Alphabet
Focuses on the 26 letters of the English alphabet. This level gives our beginner students a comprehensive introduction to the written form and sound of each letter.
Level 2 – Short Vowels
Builds on the alphabet learned in Level 1 by introducing Yes, Learn students to the concepts of short vowels and blending letters together to create words.
Level 3 – Long Vowels
Introduces different spelling variations of long vowel sounds and the concept that two or more letters can combine to represent a single sound. This will further our senior students’ abilities to decode and encode a wide range of words.
Level 4 – Consonant Blends
We teach consonant clusters, consonant digraphs, and irregular spellings. These concepts often present challenges for English language students and this level has been designed to help students master these combinations.
Level 5 – Letter Combinations; covers the remaining sounds of English, such as diphthongs, the schwa sound and its variations as well as silent letters.
