However, our students are not alone, they have the support and feedback from our Learning Support team. The levels outlined below span from a complete beginner (Level One) to what is needed to be proficient at CEFR B2.

• Each level consists of approximately 100 activities. To get the most from this course we recommend that our students also use their own book or internet research to further embed and secure their learning. This course serves are a structured path of additional practise that should accompany another General or Professional English course.

• Whilst this course is an Adult course, it could be use to support the learning of Teenagers too.

English Essentials by Yes, Learn is a four level universal English course that is designed to be followed on a self-study basis. However, our students are not alone, they have the support and feedback from our Learning Support team.

 

Level One (Entry Level)

This introductory level is divided into several parts and is graded in difficulty, so that it begins with some basic concepts and builds up to more challenging grammar activities. It features a selection of activities which provide practice for crucial basic areas of knowledge for learners at Entry Level, like using numbers, writing the alphabet, spelling days and months correctly. It then moves onto fundamental grammatical concepts such as; common irregular verbs, question forms using verb ‘to be’, opposite adjectives, comparatives and superlatives, present simple tense and present perfect tenses.

 

Level Two (A1 – A2)

Like Level One, Level Two is packed with around 100 activities aimed at improving grammar skills in English. The topics are wide and varied, starting with activities that cover the basics, like the alphabet, days, months, and telling the time; then tenses (a lot about tenses!), then irregular verbs, question forms, word order in sentences, parts of English and uncountable nouns. The things get a progressively more challenging as we approach; Sentence Blocks and question forms in Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple, Present Perfect, Future Simple and how to use pronouns.

 

Level Three (B1)

Level Three is divided into sections according to type of language skills being practised, namely grammar, vocabulary, spelling, reading, speaking & listening, and research skills. There are some activities that continue on from the activities found in Level Two, but easily stand alone too. For example; more activities on abstract nouns and common idioms, more exercises on adjectives and synonyms, and more advanced spelling challenges. Other concepts include; learning verbs, question tags using verbs ‘be’, ‘do’ and ‘have’ (present tense), using modal verbs, auxiliary verbs in question forms, word order, order of adjectives, adverbs explain how we do things, focus on prefixes and suffixes and the prepositions of time.

 

Level Four (B2)

Level Four is studying English at intermediate level (B2) and above. It’s full of great exercises and revision activities testing English grammar skills at this level, which include question forms, state verbs, phrasal verbs, reported speech, use of articles, error correction, and much more. Many of the sections have a special emphasis on using the tenses and structures that every learner at this level needs to practise, namely past perfect, past perfect continuous, past continuous, present perfect continuous, future continuous, future perfect, and the four conditionals.
